Board-Certified Urogynecologist, Obstetrician & Gynecologist
Sam H. Hessami, MD, FACOG, UPRS is a board-certified OB/GYN and board-certified Urogynecologist (Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery) with extensive leadership experience across academic medicine and health systems. He currently serves as Chief of the Division of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (Colton, CA) (July 2025–present) and previously held senior roles including Program Director for Obstetrics & Gynecology at George Washington University Regional Campus/Sinai Hospital (Jan 2024–Apr 2025), Medical Director of Specialty Care at Optum of Southern California (Apr 2023–Sep 2024), and Chief Medical Officer at Dignity Health St. Bernardine Medical Center and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Dr. Hessami completed his MD at New York Medical College, OB/GYN residency training associated with St. Vincent’s Hospital/NYMC and West Virginia University, and advanced fellowship training in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at UMDNJ–SOM. He also holds a Master of Health Administration (Ohio University). Licensed in California, Maryland, New York, and New Jersey, he is an active member of AUGS, ACOG, AAGL, and IUGA, and is a former ABOG Board Examiner. His scholarly work includes book chapters and peer-reviewed publications in minimally invasive gynecology, urogynecology, and pelvic reconstructive surgery.
